WLJ Day 3 - Wild Eyes

I would adopt a great spotted kiwi. This bird is the national symbol of NZ.
This bird is flightless. This means it can't fly.
It has tough, leathery skin and feathers like hair. They are good at smelling food.
The kiwi eats insects, worms, berries, seeds and fruit. They live in the north part of the South Island of NZ.

This is a possum and it is a predator. I think we should not kill them. We should put them in an other part of NZ away from the kiwis. We should not kill them because they are God's creatures and they might have families.

  1. Kia ora Julianna,

The great spotted kiwi truly is an iconic (famous) symbol of New Zealand, isn't it? Every time that I think of NZ I think of a kiwi bird, a kiwi fruit and a silver fern. What comes to your mind when you think of NZ? Anything in particular?

I hope that we are able to do everything that we can to protect our native birds over the coming years. The number of spotted kiwi are on the decline and we are at risk of losing them completely. That would be really sad, wouldn't it?

    Bye for now,

    Rachel
