SLJ - We will strive!

Kia ora! This is one of my Summer Learning Journey tasks. For this task I had to write a chorus about success and stuff. My song is called 'We will strive' I hope you enjoy! and please don't laugh if I sound cringey. Enjoy! :D

SLJ - Summer scene

Kia ora! This is my Summer scene made out of different objects! I had to go outside and collect rocks, twigs, pedals, flowers and all of that stuff. Then you had to decide to make a insect or a summer scene out of the objects you collected. I chose summer scene. Then you got to name your summer scene or insect anything you want to. I named my summer scene 'Majestic river'. I hope you like my summer scene! and feel free to comment on my blog!

Class animation 2020 Term 4 - Art Alive Panels!

Kia ora! This is my art alive animation for this term! I created 5 panels. Each of them come from a different culture and they have different meanings. The 5 cultures are , Maori, Niuean, Samoan, Tongan and Cook Islands.

I hope you enjoy my art work! and feel free to comment on my blog!

Maori:

This kowhaiwhai design was created by a Maori lady named Sandy Rodgers. The eye motif represents looking towards the future. The double koru design represents the mother and child. This is a symbol of protection, safety and guidance.

Niuean:

Hiapo is the Niuean word for Tapa cloth. The patterns on this hiapo represents the plants on the island. There are alot of repeating patterns and shapes like circles and triangles. There is a lot of detail in this hiapo.

Samoan:

In Samoan culture the men get a tattoo done called a Pe’a. The women's tattoo is called a Malu. This design is based on a flower called a frangipani or a hibiscus flower.

Tongan:

Cook Island:
Tivaevae is the art of quilting in the Cook Islands. Sometimes they are made individually or by groups of women. They are given as gifts on special occasions like birthdays and weddings. This tivaevae has flowers and leaves on it. Sometimes the patterns are repeating.

Art Alive artwork - Extension

This is my digital art for extension for term 4. The background on the right represents my Niuean culture. The images include a coconut tree, frangipani flowers, a hiapo pattern sun, clouds and the ocean.

The background on the left represents my Kiwi side. I am not Maori but I was born in New Zealand. This background includes a mountain, a pohutukawa tree, two pukeko, water, grass and some clouds.

My whole artwork represents where I come from and what my culture is. A Hiapo is a Niuean Tapa cloth and is used for special occasions. My artwork also means 'Even though I am away from my country I will still carry my culture with me'
