SLJ Week 2

SLJ Week 2 Activity 1

Milan Cathedral
This Cathedral is found in Italy. They started to build it in 1386. It took more then five hundred years to build it.

Activity 2 - The right to vote

On your blog tell us what you think about the fact that women were not allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia until 2015. Is it fair? Why or why not?

I don't think it is fair that the women can't vote but the men can. I say the women should be allowed to vote too so they can be even.

Bonus Activity: In Flanders Fields

It was a nice poem but i'm not sure how it made me feel. And it reminds people about the soldiers who defended New Zealand. Their families would be sad but they will also be proud.

  1. Hey again Julianna, thank you for completing another set of activities. I love how much effort you put in when completing tasks. Well done!

Wow, I can't believe the Milan Cathedral took more than five hundred years to build. That is an awfully long time. Why do you think it took so long to build? Perhaps because they started in 1386! What made you choose this church?

Thanks for also sharing your thoughts on the voting situation for women in Saudi Arabia. It's terrible that for so long women weren't able to vote. It's good that they've finally be given the vote, however 2015 is far too late.

You're right, the In Flanders Fields poem does make you feel sad and proud. It's kind of strange how a poem can make you feel a mixture of emotions.
Did you do anything to remember those who died during the war for ANZAC day last year?

    Thanks, Billy :)

  2. Hi Billy

Thank you for commenting on my blog.I think it took so long to build the Milan Cathedral because they did not have the technology like we do. They did not have cranes or machines to help them build faster.

  3. Kia Ora Julianna, wow that is a really long time to build a cathedral, it looks amazing though! I also think it is unfair that women were unable to vote. I hope you're having a great holiday! Mr Moran.
