Something in the water brainstorm

For this term our topic is Something in the water. For this task we went on an app called Answer garden. We had to go on it and write as much things in the ocean and what the ocean looks like. Next time I want to search up Blob fish and find info about it.

Vr World

In the holidays we went to Sylvia Park. While we were walking to the Hoyts cinema we saw a cool set up with Virtual reality machines. I couldn't wait to have a go at it.

But first of all we actually went to the Hoyts cinema to watch a movie called Spider-Man far from home. The movie was cool and funny. My favourite part was when MJ and Spiderman (Peter Parker) started working together.

After the movie we went back to the virtual reality place so that we could have a chance to go and try them. As we were waiting in the line my brother Kris ran away because he was too scared to go.

Once we reached the front of the line my dad got Kris to come back. The lady asked Kris and I to put on a weird looking mask. Next I chose a Vr game. I chose a roller coaster game called The future. Next we got onto the chairs. Then the lady put on two Vr headsets on Kris and I. The Lady said "ok I'm going to start the game". I felt boiling hot then I started worrying. Once the roller coster started I calmed down and felt fine. It was like I left my world behind and went to a new one. There was a lot of tall buildings and we were sitting on flying chairs. It was amazing.

When the roller coaster finished we hopped off and headed back home thinking about going back one day.

Matariki light show

Matariki light show




On Saturday night we went to the Matariki light show. I went with my two brothers and my mum and dad. First we went and looked around. We saw a cool stand where you could get a free mini Dunkin doughnut. All you had to do was get a sticky note and a pen from them and write what you want to achieve and then put your phone number and your name at the bottom. And that is how you get a free Dunkin doughnut. The nice lady gave us 3 Dunkin doughnuts one for my mum and one for my brother (that ran away) and one for me.

Next we checked out what my dad bought from people. He had some fried bread, chop suey and rice. Then we sat down and ate our food. After we finished eating we went and walked through the Matariki light trail. I could see a lot of cool lights purple, red, yellow, orange and a lot of more colours. It was so colourful. At the start of the Light trail there were these two cool light guards. As we kept on walking through the Matariki light trail we saw cool light dolphins on the tree purple, blue and yellow.

After a while walking we almost reached the end of the Trail. You could see a little stand with people selling cool lights. There was flashing battens, flashing stars and other stuff. I bought the flashing baton and my brother bought the flashing sword. Then we walked back to our car and went back home.

The next day we went back to see the fireworks. First my mum asked her sister if she was coming to the Matariki fireworks. She was, but she was also bringing our cousin Achilles. My brother and I brought our lights.

As we arrived at the Matariki light show we looked around to see if we could find her sister A.k.a our auntie Wylma. Then we thought that they might already went through the light trail waiting for the fireworks so we went through the light trail looking. There was a big mob of people at one place but we still managed to get through all of the people.

Then we went on the wet muddy grass. I suddenly saw my cousin Liam. I was trying to tell my mum that we could go follow Liam and Liam would show as where auntie Wylma was. But she was too busy talking on her phone trying to communicate with auntie Wylma. Finally we found auntie Wylma and Achilles with our auntie, her name was Missy she was also with her kids Liam and Atu.

Kristopher and I were bored so we had a light fight with our flashing weapons. Me and Kris was fighting and fighting until someone lost. At the end I lost. Then a man got a microphone and talked everyone could hear him. First the man was thanking pAK'nSAVE for sponsoring them to have the fireworks.

Finally it got up to the countdown 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 BOOMM!!!!. There was a lot of yelling and screaming the fireworks were big and great and there was a lot of colours boom! boom! boom! boom! boom!. Lots of people were taking a lot of videos and photos of the fireworks. After the fireworks finished we headed back home.

Tiny situation

Story - Tiny situation

On a sunny day I went on this website called mystery box. I thought it looked cool so I ordered one. The next day I thought the package was going to come today but it didn’t.

The next day I went to the front door to see if the package had came. It did I was so excited. I went to the kitchen to open it. When I opened it I saw a button attached to a box and there was also a note. I took the note out and started to read it. It said Press the button but first and that was where I stopped reading because it had fourteen more sentences I had to read. Then I took out the button with a box attached to it.

Once I put it down on the bench I pressed it... BOOM!!! When I looked around, everything was giant. I wondered if everything got bigger or a got tiny.Any ways it is not the time to think about that. I discovered that the button I pressed turned me into a tiny person.

Suddenly I heard the door open it was my friends. I had to warn them quick luckily I can connect my phone to the speaker and speck so they can hear me. When I got my phone it was a bit hard to connect it because I was so small. Finally when I got the phone connected I started talking I said

“Kiarah and Angelica don’t move I am a tiny person do not press the button or you will end up like me”.

My friends said “ ok wait where are you? I said “down here!” Then my friends said “Oh your so small! ok ok so how do we make you normal size again? I said look at the note it say things about this human shrinker”.

Kiarah and Angelica got the note and read it. They found out a way to fix this tiny situation but you have to say normal three times then dance for three minutes I said “THREE MINUTES REALLY” but I still did it. Three mins later. BOOM!!!

I was back to normal size I thanked my friends then we went outside and destroyed the button.

The moral of this story is if you buy something and if there's a note always read it!

Ancient Polynesian Navigation - Extension Term 2

Hi my name is Julianna and This is about  ancient Polynesian navigation. So how did Polynesians navigate? Well there were a few skills that were passed down from the best Polynesian navigators. There was no modern technology like GPS to help them. Instead they used things from nature to guide them. 

The first sign from nature was Birds.  Seabirds helped Polynesians find land because these types of birds had to fly away to find food. Then they would come back at night. 

Clouds clouds helped Polynesian navigators because clouds move slowly when they pass over land. 

Ocean swells Ocean swells help because you would know if there is an island ahead if the water is starting to push the opposite way it was before.

Stars Polynesian navigators used stars as a compass because they had to memorise the position of the stars. 

When the Polynesians found an Island they probably celebrated and had a big feast.
