Farewell Spit

Farewell Spit has been in the news recently as a number of whales accidentally swam into the spit and became stuck on the beach. They were unable to swim back to the ocean because the water was too shallow. Many local people tried to save the ‘beached’ whales. Please follow this Farewell Spit link to learn more about what happened. On your blog, describe what the local people did to try and save the beached whales.

It was very sad News. I heard that people splash water on the whales. They also put towels to cover the whales from the sun, and they dug the sand to reach the water. But three hundred whales died.

WLJ Day 3 - Wild Eyes

I would adopt a great spotted kiwi. This bird is the national symbol of NZ.

This bird is flightless. This means it can't fly.

It has tough, leathery skin and feathers like hair. They are good at smelling food.

The kiwi eats insects, worms, berries, seeds and fruit. They live in the north part of the South Island of NZ. 

This is a possum and it is a predator. I think we should not kill them. We should put them in an other part of NZ away from the kiwis. We should not kill them because they are God's creatures and they might have families. 

WLJ Day 3 Wild Eyes

 I went on wild eyes. This is a site where kids can do fun activities.  I pretended to discover a giant Moa bone, giant egg and giant foot prints in my back yard. I dressed up like a scientist.

WLJ Day 2

I like Rangitoto Island because I liked the ferry trip to the Island. When you get there you can go on a bush walk and see lots of native birds and plants. When you go to the top of the volcano you can see a beautiful view.

WLJ 2017 Day 1

Facts about NZ people:

1. A Maori greeting is called a hongi. This is when two people put their heads together and touch their nose together.
2. Most people live in the North Island of NZ
3. Lots of people like camping in NZ.

fairy bread

Last thursday room 14 made something yummy we made fairy bread. We are making fairy bread for matariki. First I

I felt marvelous After morning tea Miss Davis gave everyone one glove each and a plate next  Miss davis handed out bread then she gave butter to each group at a time. It was slimy  After a while we sprinkled some matariki stars.

After that miss davis gave star stapes  to shape it into a star my favourite part was eating it.It was delish I wish I made some more again for my belly next year I bet it would be more delish next time for sure.
